Ulyanovsk Region has been well represented in Cannes
The international real estate show MIPIM 2011 was recently held in Cannes (France). Over
80 countries took part in events.
The united Russian exhibition was opened by Alexander Zhukov Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. Then the head of the Russian delegation toured the stands. Alexander Zhukov began his tour of the regional exhibits at the Ulyanovsk Region stand.
The federal leadership took great interest in our region's projects. Particular interest was paid to the project for a residential micro district in Dimitrovgrad, which is being implemented as part of the construction of a medical radiology centre. The important guests and forum participants also showed interest in the city development project for the Svyaga River embankment, residential and public buildings in Zavolzhye district and also reconstruction of Trud stadium and Torpedo ice palace.
"One of our aims in participating here was to discover the main market trends and key future development areas," said Dmitry Ryabov, Director General of Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation, OJSC. "The real estate market and development projects really suffered during the crisis. Now interest in real estate is growing again. Big changes are taking place in the Russian and foreign markets and foreign investors are becoming more active. We can say that the market is making a fast recovery."
Another important task was active participation in round tables and discussions at the international salon. The Director General of Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation gave a speech at the conference 2011 Time for Investing in Russia organised by Vedomosti newspaper, and the round table Turnkey Investment Sites, the Key to Successfully Attracting Investment where he talked about the region's increased investment attractiveness, government support and incentives provided by Ulyanovsk Region for investors.
According to Dmitry Ryabov, this discussion platform is a good opportunity to present Ulyanovsk Region's investment advantages to Russian and foreign companies. At the end of the conference the heads of many companies, including consulting firms, expressed interest in receiving more detailed information on the region and implemented investment projects.
In addition, negotiations were held with hotel business representatives and it is hoped that these will result in a global hotel operator appearing in Ulyanovsk in the next few years. Interest in implementing residential projects in Ulyanovsk came from several large construction companies, including RENOVA Stroygroup.
During the events a meeting was also held with the management of Urban Land Institute. The heads of Ulyanovsk city council and city architecture proposed discussing a project which is very important for the city and region, the development of a residential micro district on the embankment of Svyaga River, which requires third party, independent specialists and professionals. Specialists and consultants from the institute not only gave invaluable advice and shared international experience, but as a result of the meeting it was decided to provide our region further support and consultation during project implementation.
