A Lithuanian company is building a aircraft repair centre in Ulyanovsk
LA BOURGET (France) 22 June - RIA Novosti. The RIA Novosti correspondent reports that Ulyanovsk Region and Avia Solutions Group from Lithuania, during the Le Bourget air show, signed an agreement of intent to develop an aircraft service and repair centre in the Ulyanovsk-Vostochny economic port zone.Governor Sergey Morozov signed the document for Ulyanovsk Region and for Avia Solutions Group Gediminas Žiemelis the head of the company.The estimated project investment is 18 million dollars. The agreement proposes the construction of three hangars for servicing aircraft, each 5 thousand square metres, and the creation of
360 jobs. The project implementation period is 2012-2018.
In addition, the governor signed an agreement with the French company Advanced Business Events on organising the first international business forum in Ulyanovsk for the aviation and space industry.
According to Morozov, since 2006 more than 4.5 billion euros have been invested in the region's economy thanks to active work. "We have implemented nearly 400 large investment projects, which have created about 10 thousand well paid jobs", said the Governor.He said that Ulyanovsk has the only special economic port zone in Russia, based at its airport. According to Morozov, construction of infrastructure facilities for port zone residents is going well. "Construction of infrastructure facilities for the first residents at the first start up complex began this year and will be completed by the end of next year, construction of the second complex will be complete by 2015", the Governor said.
He recalled that the first port zone resident was Volga-Dnepr Technics, which will create the first centre in Russia for service and repair of wide body and ramp aircraft. In addition, Morozov said that the air company Vityaz, which supplies the Canadian Viking Air in Russia, will accommodate production in the port zone of aircraft designed for Siberia and the far north
He said that the Ulyanovsk Region delegation discussed at Le Bourget air show issues concerning attracting other residents to the economic port zone.
